7.9 — GOOGLE REVIEWS STRATEGY

Turn happy customers into your best marketing.

Reviews are one of the top three ranking factors for the Google Local Pack. They also influence whether AI systems recommend your business. And for your potential customers, reviews are the final deciding factor between calling you or calling your competitor.

Most businesses wait passively for reviews. Some ask occasionally. Very few have a systematic strategy that generates consistent, high-quality reviews month after month. That is the gap I help you close.

01 — THE IMPACT

Why reviews are so powerful.

SIGNAL 01

Ranking impact

Google explicitly uses review quantity, quality, and velocity as ranking signals for the Local Pack. More recent, positive reviews = higher ranking.

SIGNAL 02

AI trust signal

When AI systems evaluate which business to recommend, review volume and sentiment are major factors. A business with 50 genuine five-star reviews looks far more trustworthy to AI than one with 3 reviews.

SIGNAL 03

Conversion factor

Over 90% of consumers read reviews before choosing a local business. The business with more and better reviews wins the call, even if a competitor ranks slightly higher.

02 — THE APPROACH

My review generation approach.

METHOD 01

Direct review links

A short URL that takes customers straight to your Google review page: no searching, no confusion.

METHOD 02

Follow-up sequences

Email or SMS messages sent after a job is completed, with a friendly request and the direct link.

METHOD 03

QR codes

Physical cards or stickers for in-person businesses: scan and review in seconds.

METHOD 04

Response templates

I provide templates for responding to both positive and negative reviews. Responding to every review shows engagement and builds trust.

METHOD 05

Review keyword coaching

When customers mention specific services in their reviews ("great emergency plumber" or "best deep clean in Marbella"), it directly helps your ranking for those terms. I advise on how to encourage natural, keyword-rich reviews.

BOUNDARY

What NOT to do

Buying reviews, incentivising reviews with discounts, review gating (only asking happy customers), and using review farms: all of these violate Google's guidelines and can result in profile suspension. I build strategies that are 100% compliant and sustainable.

04 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How many reviews do I need to rank well?

It depends on your competition. If your top competitors have 30 reviews and you have 5, closing that gap should be a priority. As a general rule, aim to consistently generate 2 to 4 new reviews per month.

What should I do about negative reviews?

Respond professionally and constructively. Acknowledge the concern, offer to resolve it, and keep the response brief. A thoughtful response to a negative review often impresses potential customers more than the negative review itself hurts.

Can I ask customers to leave a review?

Yes. Google explicitly allows businesses to ask customers for reviews. What you cannot do is offer incentives, selectively ask only happy customers, or use fake or paid reviews.

Can I respond to all reviews, even positive ones?

Yes, and you should. Responding to positive reviews shows appreciation and encourages others to leave feedback. Keep responses personal and genuine. Avoid copy-paste templates.

What if a competitor leaves fake negative reviews?

Flag them through Google. Fake reviews violate Google policies and can be reported. I can help you identify suspicious reviews and guide you through the flagging process.
